Bipolar Disorder

Welcome to our Bipolar Disorder self-help page. Here we explain what bipolar disorder is, what kind of treatments are available, and how you can help yourself. We also provide guidance on what friends and family can do to help

What is bipolar disorder?

Everyone experiences changes in their mood. If you have bipolar disorder, you may experience more extreme states, which can have an enormously negative impact on your life. Bipolar disorder is characterised by alternating between mania, the feeling of being high and elation, to feeling very low and depressed. Some people also experience psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions.
