Guide-Line

Q: Is Guide-Line really confidential?
A: Guide-Line is a confidential helpline and we will not share your personal details with anyone except in exceptional circumstances as outlined in our Confidentiality Policy. From time to time, we will ask for feedback about how you have found our service; the questions we ask will not record any personal data which could be used to identify you

Q: How much do calls cost?
A: Calls are charged at your network provider’s standard rate

Q: How often may I call Guideline? Will calls be limited to a certain length?
A: You can call on any day, if you feel that you need support. Calls may be limited in terms of time spent talking with you, and staff may suggest other organisations who can be contacted for further support and advice. This is because we have to ensure we can answer as many calls as possible. You will not be rushed, or dismissed, however.  All our staff are courteous, kind and respectful

The Sanctuary

Q: How do I make an appointment to speak with someone about my mental health crisis?
A: You will need to contact First Response on 01274 221 181, in the first instance. They will assess your needs, after asking you certain vital questions, and decide which service is appropriate to you. You can read the criteria for access to The Sanctuary here

Q: Am I limited to one visit to The Sanctuary?
A: No, not necessarily. You may contact First Response any time you feel that you are overwhelmed or need that extra support. They will always assess you at the point of contact, so they may decide that further visits to The Sanctuary are appropriate

Q: What can I expect at The Sanctuary and from your staff?
A: The environment is homely and peaceful. Please take a look at our gallery. Our staff work in a person centred manner and will support you to help manage your crisis

Volunteering

Q: Is there a minimum length of commitment you require?
A: We ask that all volunteers commit to volunteering with us for at least 3 months in order to allow us to provide a consistent service

Q: Do you pay expenses incurred?
A: All volunteers receive out of pocket travel expenses (proof required) in accordance with our Volunteer Policy

Q: I would like to volunteer but I’m not sure exactly which role is appropriate for me.
A: Come and have a chat with us.  We will be able to discuss your skills and needs, and help you to decide if we can offer anything suitable

Q: I have no previous volunteer experience. Can I still apply?
A: Yes, of course. We provide an induction and training, followed by ongoing support

Fundraising and Donations

Q: I would like to donate to Mind in Bradford. What are the different ways I can do this?
A: Click here to go to our donations page. This will give you further information about the different ways you can donate. Currently, we accept debit and credit cards, PayPal, standing orders, cheques, text and cash donations.

Q: Is Mind in Bradford financed by Mind?
A: No, although we are affiliated to national Mind, we have to raise all revenue ourselves; this means that we are heavily reliant on donations.

Q: I want to fundraise for Mind in Bradford. How do I go about doing this?
A: Contact us; we’ll arrange a meeting to discuss your plans and how we can best support you
