What is J2E?

Journey to Employment (J2E) offers a new approach and provides a unique package of local personalised employment support through peer support job clubs.

The  12 weeks J2E Peer led job clubs are delivered away from the JobCentre and offer an alternative to the norm and support disabled people and people with a health condition to reduce and overcome barriers to employment.

J2E aims to provide participants with the techniques to manage their  health conditions and help change attitudes towards employment.

Following the 12 weeks J2E will offer continuous  support and 121 mentoring to participants through the Employment hub and support them to progress on their journey to employment.

The benefits?

J2E supports participants in building confidence and self esteem.

The Community Employment Specialists (CESs) will use their lived experience of disability to support participants both in the peer led groups and the JobCentre.

J2E offers advice and mentoring.

Activities will include personalised advice and action planning sessions, a weekly job club followed by an Employment hub for participants to meet and provide each other with support.

People taking part in the project will also be supported with voluntary work, work shadowing, placement opportunities and In-work support.

How do people access J2E?

Claimants in receipt of Employment Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit (UC) should contact their Work Coach at the Jobcentre and ask to be referred to the J2E voluntary job club.
