We are delighted to announce the appointment of John Vincent, as Chair of the Board of Trustees, at Mind in Bradford.
John has over 20 years’ experience of working with and advising Boards of large public and private sector organisations: both as a Senior UK Civil Servant and subsequently as a Director and Managing Partner of strategy consultancy firms.
A social sciences prize-winner from Leeds University, John joined the Civil Service Fast Stream in 1993, where he advised Ministers on policy development and implementation as Private Secretary, Speechwriter to the Secretary of State, Policy Manager and Change Manager.
He left the Civil Service in 2000 to build The Foundation, a consultancy focused on customer-orientated growth and innovation. Since 2007, when he moved back to Yorkshire with his family, he has been Managing Partner at April, an international human-centred strategy consulting firm.
He has advised NHS Trusts and healthcare organisations throughout the UK, which led to his interest in mental health and wellbeing:
“Through my work with NHS Partnership Trusts, I heard first-hand how talented people leading 'normal' lives can quickly fall into a spiral of despair without access to advice and support when they need it. I've seen it happen to friends' families: struggling to cope with the impact of mental health problems and having to fight the 'system' to try to get access to sparse, rationed specialist services that are often only available miles away. I wanted to do more to help, which is what led me to fundraising for Mind. I am honoured and delighted to have been chosen to be Mind in Bradford’s new Chair of Trustees.”
John lives in Bingley with his wife and three children, and is an FA qualified coach at the local Salts Juniors football club.
