Time to Talk Day is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. Happening every year, it’s a day for friends, families, communities, and workplaces to come together to talk, listen and change lives.

On 1 February 2024 make space in your day for a conversation about mental health.

Keep an eye on this page for ideas for how to take part, from organising an event in your local area or hosting a lunch and learn session to sharing information on social media or texting a friend.

8 ways to start a conversation about mental health

  1. Tell someone you appreciate what they’ve done for you
  2. Talk about how money worries can impact mental health
  3. Talk to a friend about a celebrity who has spoken openly about mental health
  4. Share something about #TimeToTalkDay on social media
  5. Sometimes writing is easier, check-in with a friend over text
  6. Talking side by side can be easier, try talking while walking or cooking
  7. Listening is just as important as talking, ask someone how they’re feeling
  8. Have a chat over lunch with a friend
