Bradford District and Craven Mind is looking for a passionate and dedicated Community Engagement Worker to be part of our Ethnically and Culturally Diverse Communities (ECDC) programme. In this role, you will work closely with Central and Eastern European communities to reduce stigma, enhance access to mental health support, and to ensure services meet their unique needs.
As a Community Engagement Worker, you will play a key role in fostering trust and building meaningful relationships with individuals and groups, ensuring their experiences and insights shape how services are delivered. You will create opportunities for open dialogue, co-produce solutions with the community, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to address inequalities in mental health.
This role will suit someone who has a passion for engaging with diverse communities, facilitating conversations that really matter, and driving change in how mental health support is accessed and delivered. You will have the chance to make a real impact, not just in improving services, but in empowering Central and Eastern European communities to take ownership of their mental health journeys.
The role will appeal to those who have:
- Experience in community engagement, outreach, or similar roles, particularly working with diverse or underrepresented communities.
- A strong understanding of Central and Eastern European cultures, with the ability to speak one or more language from the region.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster trust and build meaningful connections.
- A proactive, compassionate approach to addressing mental health challenges and promoting overall wellbeing.
- A commitment to promoting and driving improvements in mental health support for underserved communities.
Role details
Salary: £12.48 – £14.36 per hour depending on experience experience
Contract: 2 years, fixed-term
Hours: 37 hours
Base: Kenburgh House, 28 Manor Row, Bradford, BD1 4QU
Responsible to: Service Manager at Bradford District and Craven Mind
Annual Leave: Start at 25 days plus Bank Holidays
Pension: We operate a contributory pension scheme which you will be auto-enrolled into (subject to the conditions of the scheme).
Probationary Period: 6 months
