Supporters of Bradford District and Craven Mind came together for an afternoon of football and fun.
More than 60 people took part in the charity’s inaugural Heads Up Cup five-a-side football tournament to support mental health.
Local businesses and community five-a-side teams were invited to get involved, with 10 teams going head-to-head in a fun yet competitive atmosphere.
The tournament, held at Horsfall Community Stadium, just off Halifax Road in Bradford, raised an impressive £1,850, which is enough to answer 123 calls to Guide-Line, Bradford District and Craven Mind’s emotional support phone line.
Lydia Ngwenya, the charity’s Fundraising and Business Development Manager, said: “It was amazing to see so many people come together to support mental health, and have fun!
“A massive thank you to all the teams who took part – you’ve all made a big difference!
“And a special thank you to ACS Group for sponsoring the event, and to Bradford (Park Avenue) A.F.C., for allowing us to hold the event at the Horsfall Community Stadium.”
The winners of the tournament were a team representing the ACS Group.
Danny Barker, who was captain of the winning team, said: “We had a great time at the Heads Up Cup. The sun was shining, the tournament was played in a good spirit, and winning was just an added bonus.”
Leon Oakley, People Manager at the ACS Group, added: “It was a privilege to sponsor the tournament. The ACS Group is committed to supporting the mental health needs of the Bradford and Craven district.”
